Week 1 Introduction to Chemistry & lab safety/expectations.
Properties of mono-atomic and discrete covalent substances
Mono-atomic substances like Argon have very weak inter-atomic forces and discrete molecules like carbon dioxide have very weak intermolecular forces meaning that both have very low melting and boiling temperatures and so are gases at room temperature. They are not ions so do not conduct electricity. Don't get confused, strong covalent bonds but weak intermolecular forces.
